Report of Project RECH day 4

School Outreach

Volunteers woke as early today to set out for another stressful, fun-filled and impactful experience. By 7:30am, volunteers were already at work set to accomplish the mission - REACHING OUT TO EVERY CHILD!

Due to the heavy load of duty for the day, Volunteers were divided into two to make the work effective. Some volunteers took to Asi-Asaba community while some stayed at Oyan.

The Asi-Asaba team led by Miss Omolola Pedro attended to Asi-Asaba Community Grammar School; where she gave quality talk on Rape and Sexual Harassment. At the school, several rape cases were mentioned by the audience; and in particular was that of a young female of 12years old who spoke up about her 3times rape experience by a family brother of 15years old, and how her parents have only beaten the boy and cover him up on the claim that they are related. VARSH agreed to follow up the case by giving adequate counseling to the girl and as well, giving her a platform to express her mind and get back on her feet.

Oyan team moved from Beulah Nur/Pry School, to Nawarudeen Elementary School; to educate and enlighten the kids on the danger of Rape and steps to take in preventing rape.

The two teams later converged and moved together to Oyan Grammar School where we had access to educate the senior students on the need to avoid the dangerous act.

Also in preparation for the next day, comrades visited the National Union of Tailors, Oyan to invite them for the Heart2heart talk with women at Oyan town hall.

It was such a stressful day, but it was worth it as the purpose of the project was achieved to a very great point
